Domestic Violence Awareness Month
(DVAM) - October
 |
Domestic Violence
Awareness Month (DVAM) is a national movement to bring
public attention to the problem of intimate partner
violence. While October is the official month for this
campaign, many individuals and organizations in Longmont
make domestic violence awareness their goal every single
day.
Many events are taking place during
October to bring awareness to domestic violence. Click

Month. |
White Ribbon Campaign
 |
LEVI is kicking off
our 2nd Annual White Ribbon Campaign, June 8 - June
22, 2008. The
campaign focuses
on men working to end violence against women. We will
consider this successful when men rally together to
end domestic violence and
sexual violence.
Historically, these issues have been relegated as just “women’s
issues”. Men in our community are needed to step
up if we are to have any additional affect
on reducing domestic violence in Longmont.
If you are concerned about violence
against women in the Longmont community and want to
get involved, please click

Domestic
Violence Children’s
Book Campaign
LEVI’s library committee works
to ensure that quality materials on domestic violence are
available to the community.
As part of their efforts, this committee set out to find
books geared for young children on the topic of domestic
violence, and they found nothing available. In response,
Longmont Police Officer and LEVI member Sara Pierce wrote
a book for young children, explaining domestic violence in
a story format, using words and situations that they could
understand.
The children’s book has been a working
project within LEVI. Recently, LEVI was been provided with
the funding needed
to publish the book. We’d like to thank the Rotary
Foundation for this funding. The five Rotary Clubs who came
together to donate financial support of the book project
are as follows: Longmont St. Vrain Rotary, Erie Rotary,
Carbon Valley Rotary, Longmont Twin Peaks Rotary, and Longmont
Rotary.
The
children’s book project
is currently in the works. For more information, please contact LEVI.
