SAFE SHELTER OF ST. VRAIN VALLEY is
a 501(c)3 agency, in existence for 30 years.
The Safe Shelter of
St. Vrain Valley serves the geographical
jurisdiction of northeast Boulder County including Longmont
and its surrounding areas, as well as, southwest Weld County.
The mission of Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley is to provide
safety and support
to women and children of diverse backgrounds who are affected
by domestic violence. Through direct services and community
education, Safe Shelter of St. Vrain
Valley promotes self-sufficiency and advocates for the
right of every individual to a life free of
intimidation and violence.
Personnel
Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley currently employs 19 full-time/part-time
career staff, with 20-30 volunteers. Staff qualifications
include bachelors and masters degrees in psychology, social
sciences and business management.
Education
The agency currently has agency speakers to address the issues
of domestic violence, violence in the workplace, teen-dating
violence, and DV101. On hand are additional videos, a library
of books, safety packets and other domestic violence community
materials.
Direct Services
Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley provides:
Outreach Services
- Individual
peer counseling
- Children’s counseling, both
1:1 and in group settings
- Advocate facilitated client support groups
- Living In Female
Empowerment “LIFE” groups
to help women and children break free from the cycle
of violence
- Case Management
- Legal Advocacy: Assistance with permanent and temporary
civil protection orders. Criminal justice advocacy. Information
and
referral to appropriate legal agencies.
- Transitional Housing: Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley
has programs that provide transitional housing for qualified
women and their
children for up to 2 years. Safe Shelter provides transitional
housing support through referral and case management services to
facilities in Longmont and Boulder.
- Financial Assistance: Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley
is able to provide limited emergency funds to their clients
on a case by case
basis. Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley provides all services
on a sliding fee scale. No victim of abuse will be turned away
for lack of funds.

Shelter
- Safe Shelter of St. Vrain
Valley provides residential safe shelter to women and child
victims of
domestic violence. Maximum stay is six weeks on a
case by case basis. Shelter
staff provides intake and assessment. Services
are limited to female and child victims in
imminent
danger.
24 hour
day
admittance. 24 hour Crisis line is 303.772.4422.
- Safety
is the number one focus of the shelter and therefore,
it is in a confidential location.
If safety
of a client
is compromised, Safe Shelter will work
with her to have her
moved to another location.
